"Character is higher that intellect." Student Success Statement

Student Success Statement
“Character is higher than intellect.”
-Ralph Waldo Emerson
What this statement means is that it doesn’t matter if you are a really smart person, what matters more is their personality. Someone can be really smart but they can be a jerk and not have the best personality. Yet, there can be some that are not as intellect as others but have the greatest personality ever. Having the best character attracts someone towards that person and loves them for who they are. Having the best character that attracts someone; I mean that people will find you as a good person; someone who chooses the right, someone who can be very helpful; or just someone who is there for you.

Sarah from Central Washington Softball Team

Summary: This story was about a softball player named Sarah. She had never hit a homerun in her entire career. Her biggest goal was to be able to make a homerun, and at some point her dream came true. In her final game in the second inning, she hit a homerun. But by the time that she got to first base, she dropped to the ground because she was having a pain in the knee. Good sportsmanship was shown when two girls from the other team, Mallory and Liz, carried her to each base so Sarah can finish her homerun.
Reflection: To me, this was a very interesting and appealing story. I was happy to know that Sarah accomplished her dream, something that she had been wishing and waiting for in her entire career.  Finishing that run was the most exciting and happiest moment of her life. Although she couldn’t make it to the final bases on her own, the two girls from the other team helped her out. This was very nice and sportsmanship-like. It comes to show that there are people in the world who don’t care much about winning or losing, but by being able to help others, especially when it’s something you have been dreaming of.

"My strength is as the strength of ten because my heart is pure." Student Success Statement

Student Success Statement
My strength is as the strength of ten because my heart is pure.”
-Alfred, Lord Tennyson
This statement means that anyone can have all the strength they want as long as they know they have a clear conscience of life. For example, if someone donates 10 million dollars to a hospital from his savings, then it shows his strength in helping others. He did it because he cared and it shows that he has a pure heart because he did not have bad intentions; and the money that he donated was from all the money he gained while working.
