Statement

lies behind us and what lies before us are small matters compared to what lies
within us.”

This statement means
that anything that lies around us does not really matter as much as what lies
within us. There can be many things that surround us and it might not be
important to us because it is not what you want to do or where you want to go. The
most important thing that matters is the things that lie within us which are
goals that we want to accomplish. By pursuing these goals nothing else around
you will matter because you are only focused on what you want to achieve. For example
if you are pursuing to become a doctor, you will only focus on what is needed
in order to get there. It won’t and it isn’t necessary to focus on your
surroundings because that is not what you want to do.
